P90X..Insanity...no problem! Bring it on! Running...in public...ahhhh you can't make me!
Why is running such an issue for me? Well, in high school, I talked myself into running cross country. It was an awful experience. I was literally last in every race that I ran, by a LOT...oh except that one where a runner hurt themselves and had to walk the rest--and she was only slightly behind me at the end. =/
How defeating is that?! Well, I hated running then. I felt like such a failure. Today, I know that my running pace isn't too bad for "normal" people lol. My school had an EXCELLENT cross country team--I was comparing myself to some of the best runners in PA (Rule #12094 of Fitness: Don't CompareYourself to Anyone Else!!!). I'm still friends with many of the people on the team, and that experience has taught me a lot. I always finished...I never gave up, and I ran for three years (but my junior and senior year I was just the stat--I did a great job--and my coach was probably thrilled!! ;))
Soooo....my amazingly supportive boyfriend has started running with me again! I started using the C25K app, (Couch to 5K) and I love it! It's easing me back into it--and guess what?! I love running. =)

Update: I just signed up for my first 5K since high school...it's a COLOR RUN! I'm so exited! We're making a little trip out of it, visiting some amazing friends in Ohio and we're going to hit up Cedar Point afterwards (our favorite amusement park!) Conquering a fear can be fun!!! We're running July 20th, 2013--join us! Definitely check back in July/August for an update of my first "race" (there isn't a timer, but I'm still hoping to run it in under 40 minutes!) & hopefully our crazy cool, outlandish pictures! =)
